Cashmere wraps

Handwoven cashmere wraps from Nepal. Each piece is made individually on a hand loom in our small workshop — no two pieces are alike.

Three quality levels: A is pure cashmere from the undercoat of the Chyangra goat, tested and certified by the Nepal Pashmina Industries Association; 17 to 28 days of work go into one wrap. B consists of 80 to 90% cashmere, the remainder is sheep wool. C is a blended fabric with 20 to 30% cashmere, plus sheep wool and viscose.

Wraps are lighter and more finely woven than scarves — pieces for the whole year; the finest can be pulled through a finger ring. If you prefer something warmer, you will find it among the cashmere scarves.

More about the fibre – origin, characteristics, production and care: Cashmere wool.

The weavers are paid before a scarf or blanket reaches us – and above the local rate. What remains after the purchase price and all selling costs helps us fund our work – above all education and health care for the children. Namaste Kids e. V. accompanies more than 500 children in the mountain regions of the Himalayas, over years until the end of their schooling.

What this shop is for

Namaste Kids supports more than 500 children from very poor families, most of them in remote mountain regions of the Himalaya. Over many years, until the end of their schooling, so that they can go to school and grow up healthy.

The weavers are paid before a scarf or blanket reaches us – and above the local rate. What remains after the purchase price and all selling costs helps us fund our work – above all education and health care for the children. The aim is to break the cycle of poverty and lack of education that would otherwise continue from one generation to the next, so that families become less dependent on donations.
