So that your handwoven bag from Nepal stays with you for as long as possible, correct storage is worthwhile. With these simple recommendations it keeps its shape and retains its beautiful colours.

1. Prefer hand washing Clean the bag by hand in lukewarm water (max. 30 °C) with a mild detergent. This protects both the fibres and the colours.

2. No machine, no bleach Avoid the washing machine, the tumble dryer, bleach and harsh chemicals. These can attack the natural material and cause the strong ethnic colours to fade.

3. Treat stains immediately Dab fresh stains locally with a damp cloth – working from the outside inwards and without rubbing, so that nothing spreads.

4. Rinse gently Rinse the bag with clear, lukewarm water until no soap residue remains. Do not wring it out; press the water out gently instead.

5. Dry in the air Let the bag dry flat and in the shade – never in the tumble dryer. Direct sun can bleach the natural colours.

6. Iron gently If necessary, iron the bag at a low temperature and preferably from the reverse side. Try to avoid ironing over the coloured woven pattern.

7. Wash separately at first Wash the bag on its own the first few times. Natural materials can lose a little colour at the beginning – this protects your other textiles.
