Who certifies – and what the standard requires
The certificates are awarded by the Nepal Pashmina Industries Association (NPIA). The association is the only state-recognised body in Nepal authorised to certify genuine Himalayan cashmere.
The standard calls for fibres with a fineness of no more than 17 micrometres, obtained from the undercoat of the Nepalese Chyangra goat – only a few cashmere qualities meet it. According to the measurements available, our certified pieces lie between 15 and 15.3 micrometres. They are made by trained Nepalese craftswomen and craftsmen using traditional techniques and under fair working conditions.
So you can be sure that you are holding genuine Himalayan cashmere of the highest quality in your hands – from the fibre to the finished piece.
